About

Branch

My name is Elizabeth "Ashley" Shantharaj  and I am an LPC licensed in Texas (81627). I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Baptist University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a minor in Psychology also from HBU.

I started my counseling career in church counseling and then moved to private practice before working at Arrow Child and Family Ministries for several years. During my time at Arrow, I worked with children in foster care and youth with histories of abuse. I have worked with both male and female clients from age 2 to 60, with various needs, backgrounds, beliefs, and values. Despite these differences, I have learned that all people desire and deserve to feel seen, safe, and delighted in. I strive to create a safe atmosphere in the therapist-client relationship no matter the age of the client.

My history working with foster care, adoption, and trauma has led me to develop a therapeutic approach often grounded in attachment and relationship work. I work with women to help them identify areas of their life or self they would like to change by exploring their view of self and others. I collaborate with my clients to decide which approach to therapy is best for them after we have identified current barriers.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. I enjoy reading, being active, spending time with friends, and exploring Houston coffee shops.
